CASPER: CASPER GLOW

A companion app for better sleep.

We worked with Casper to design and develop an app for their Glow Light, a smart light that can help users get better sleep.

The goal of the project was to create an application that would let users interact with their Glow Lights, enabling users to connect, change settings and group lights. The app also acted as a central hub for keeping all the lights in sync and updated with the latest firmware.

Apart from the technical requirements, an important goal of the project was to translate the Casper brand into their first ever mobile application.

It took some exploration before we nailed the visual representation of the glows and how they would look when grouped.

CONNECTING…

SINGLE OR GROUP MODE

The Glow Lights can be purchased as singles or pairs. Multiple lights can be paired and unpaired at any time.

Maybe you want 4 Glows paired on a bookshelf or two unpaired ones for you and your partner with a different wake up time. All these factors had to be considered when designing the setup and settings.

Working closely with both developers and product owners enabled us to discover these scenarios early on explore multiple solutions and test what makes most sense to people.

BLUETOOTH

This was my first time working with Bluetooth protocols. Turns out it can get interesting and complicated when networks of Bluetooth devices need to remember each other even when the app is not there to guide them.
